In light of the current issues with AMD motherboards wherein AMD EXPO activation could potentially kill the motherboard and/or the AMD Ryzen 7000-Series processor, AMD and its partners are scrambling to find a fix. A couple of techtubers like der8auer investigated and gave their insights regarding this ongoing issue. Several users have made this issue known to the public as users post their experiences online on social media platforms like Reddit. Apparently, there are a handful of cases of AMD motherboards with AMD Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs dying due to a yet-to-be-determined cause, also yet to be officially acknowledged by AMD. Here's a Reddit mega-thread regarding this issue. As for the severity of the problem, not all users are affected by this issue but it does pose a risk to current users.

Surprisingly, BIOSTAR is the first AMD motherboard partner to release a statement and new a BIOS version that would resolve this issue. Other brand partners like MSI, ASUS, GIGABYTE, and ASRock are yet to release an official statement as of this writing but there's already word about MSI's updated BIOS for its AMD X670 motherboards. ASUS has also removed the downloadable BIOS versions on its website and gave a statement exclusively to der8auer, given as an answer to a direct inquiry, as seen in the screenshot below.

BIOSTAR Release A New BIOS Update To Limit Ryzen 7000X3D Voltages

Press Release
BIOSTAR has released a new BIOS update for its X670E VALKYRIE, RACING B650EGTQ, and B650M-SILVER motherboards. This update aims to limit the voltages of AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processors, ensuring improved CPU security.

Recent reports suggest that AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processors are prone to physical damage when overclocked with voltage assistance. This has prompted motherboard vendors to rush BIOS updates with voltage limiters, and BIOSTAR is no exception.

The new BIOS update from BIOSTAR restricts direct voltage to CPU Vcore Voltage, CPU SOC Voltage, and CPU MISC Voltage, preventing over-voltage and reducing the risk of damage to the 7000X3D series CPUs. Additionally, BIOSTAR also has PBO (Precision Boot Overdrive, Default: Auto) function to provide the best performance for 7000X3D series CPUs even under Voltage restrictions.

Supported models and BIOS list below:
BIOSTAR X670E VALKYRIE: BIOS Version X67AE413.BST
BIOSTAR RACING B650EGTQ: BIOS Version B65AQ413.BST
BIOSTAR B650M-SILVER: BIOS Version B65BQ413.BST
